Fireplace Insert Installation in Huntington Beach, CA

Will an insert fit the fireplace I already have?

Measure before you shop. Firebox width at the rear, not the front. Rear width and height are usually the limiting numbers. Depth matters too. Then look up at the damper. The damper plate and frame sit in the liner's path, so one or the other gets removed or cut. On an open masonry fireplace with clay tile liners, the insert is only half the job. A stainless liner runs the full stack height and connects to the insert collar. An insert vented into bare tile is not a finished installation.

Factory-built zero-clearance units are a different question. Those metal fireboxes accept only inserts listed for that specific chassis. The model label is usually inside the firebox opening or on the frame. If it's painted over or gone, that has to be settled first.

Salt fog off the water eats chimney tops here. A rusted-through chase cover or cracked crown mortar should be handled before anything goes down the flue. Otherwise water follows the new liner.

Sealed direct-vent gas inserts need a coaxial vent and a gas line to the hearth with an accessible shutoff. Blowers need power. Older masonry fireboxes rarely have an outlet, so a circuit gets run.

Pre-1960 unlined or shallow-anchored stacks deserve a camera look first.

What happens after you call us

  1. 1

We look first, open the damper, check the cap and flue, then give you a firm price at the door. The look is free, and if it needs masonry work we don't do, we'll say so.

  2. 2

Call and tell us what you're seeing, a draft, a smell, a gas insert that clicks but won't light. We book a two hour window and text you when the truck is twenty minutes out.

  3. 3
